cara rose
Cara Rose is a 22 year old singer songwriter from Glasgow, Scotland. Exploring what it means to be a young person in these uncertain times, Cara's soulful musings have won over fans young and old as she honed her craft across the city's venues. Distinctly Glaswegian, Cara's direct, passionate and insightful lyrics hold no punches as they traverse topics of young love, humanity and political discourse.
Debut single Learn to Speak, a tale of turmoil and resolve, solidified the excitement surrounding one of the country's brightest talents, garnering editorial support from Spotify as well as being selected as Track Of The Week on BBC Scotland’s Afternoon Show, the most listened to radio show in the country. Second single Urges saw Cara at her most impassioned, with her incredible vocals evoking stories of temptation and self-control atop a delicate piano accompaniment.
Developing on her stripped back musings, Cara ventured into the studio in early 2020 with esteemed producer Matt Ingram (Lianne La Havas, Laura Marling) to begin work on her debut EP, with This Nights Man and lead single Ain’t No Use expanding her sound and honing in on her soulful influences.
Musically gifted from a young age, Cara grew a love for music from the soul, alluding to artists such as Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, Joan Armatrading and John Martyn.
For the past year, Cara has played across her native Scotland, with esteemed slots at TRNSMT (2 years in a row, as well as appearing on the BBC highlights show), Tenement Trail, Celtic Connections, Eden Festival and has most recently supported Cory Wong of Vulpeck at the QMU. With no music released, Cara sold out both of her 2019 Glasgow headline shows at The Blue Arrow Jazz Club (180 cap) and The Savings Bank (250 cap). She supported Joesef at his sold out, back to back King Tuts headlines, as well at his 1300 capacity SWG3 show in December 2019.
